Purchasing a smartphone at top dollar then trying to save some coin by getting a generic case should be a crime. I understand paying $35+ for a case is expensive but if you shop smart, you can get great protection for a reasonable price. To get great protection many of us seek an Otterbox case. It is the front-runner for premium cases and they did not do anything less than impress me with their two Galaxy Nexus cases. Otterbox has two cases for the Galaxy Nexus both giving great protection but are made for two different types of style. Let us take a closer look at both the Defender & Commuter Otterbox cases for the Galaxy Nexus.
Otterbox Commuter Case $35 Otterbox.com & $23 Amazon.com:
The Commuter case the best looking of the two cases, which gives it a great design & style. The Commuter case is possibly the nicest looking case on the market that I have seen so far. The commuter adds thickness but does not over shadow the elegance of the Galaxy Nexus. This two-piece case fits very well. The hard shell covers nearly the entire perimeter which I am fan of. The shell helps protect from falls, dings, scratches, etc. The main that I do not like about the case is the ports are covered with silicone flaps. The flaps make it hard to simply charge your device or even plug in headphones. This is however a good this to keep out debris. My last dislike of the case is the difficulty added by the silicone to push on the physical buttons like the power and volume rocker. It will take some time to get used to but something that can be easily forgiven. Overall, this great case is suitable for everyone.

If you want to fight off demons/zombies and have total protection for your Galaxy Nexus then you want this case. This case adds significant thickness & weight but it is the ultimate protector. This case comes in three parts that consists of an outer shell with a built-in screen protector, a silicon casing that covers the shell, and lastly the massive holster. All three parts are durable so by putting them together you get the ultimate protection package in one case. I had issues with the built-in screen protector when attempting to slide down the notification bar, beside that I do have access to the rest of the touchscreen just fine. The holster is what you would expect from all holsters but this one has a subtle change that allows you to lock into position to transform the holster into a kickstand. This is a great case for those that need this type of protection & really do not care about style.
