Wireless charging may be viewed as a fad or an unnecessary product. I think it is awesome and I want it… yesterday. Everyone with an Android phone knows that battery life can be an issue. Most people are lucky to get 10 hours out of a charge. I have a charger in my room, my car, at work, and at my girlfriends. All that is necessary just to make sure the phone survives until I get home at night.
Wireless charging offers a less painful solution to a degree. Instead of having to fiddle with cables and having to verify that the phone is plugged every time I unplug it; I can simply place the phone on the mat and to resume charging.

Alarm Clock Charger? Yes please - via Engadget
Powermat is probably the most notable company for this and they have made steps towards making it prevalent. However, support only a few devices. The carriers are starting to take this issue up on our behalf. Verizon will start to bring out phones that support wireless charging natively to combat the awful battery life on their LTE phones.
I do not ever want to plug in my phone to charge again. I want to have a charging mat on my bedside table and other places. It is not out of sheer necessity but rather one of convenience. I cannot wait until all the phones being released support wireless charging out of the box. The upcoming Qi standard will mean cross compatibility between chargers and companies. Adoption will be faster and more widespread because of it. Six months from now, wireless charging will be in many phones. Sadly, that is still a fair bit down the road and I am tired of waiting.

Agreed. I was this close to buying my own Powermat yesterday. This close!
Native support will be a big deal. I can't wait. Did you have to use a pic of an iPhone though? LOL
Didn't even think of that, but looking back at the search just now, all the results were iPhone or Blackberry.
