Google Music is now out of beta, ready for mass consumption, and set to compete with iTunes and the Amazon MP3 store. Now Google Music gives you the ability to stream your own music library, add additional tracks to it by actively monitoring your “music” folder on your computer, and now Google Music also allows you to buy music!Your music library syncs across all of your Android devices and can be cached on them for off line playback. It has a nifty share feature also that our own Mike Swanson wrote about last month.
Will Google Music take the mobile and MP3 music world by storm? Are we going to see mass movement to Google Music from other online music marketplaces? The jury hasn’t even been selected yet, so needless to say the verdict is still out on how much of a success Google Music will be. I think Google has an opportunity to make a big splash in this market. One hurdle, people having to move their music from iTunes or Amazon, has already been solved with the active monitoring of the music folder on your computer. I think that has made the transition that much easier for current iTunes, but new Android users to make the transition. I wish them the best in this endeavor and we’ll see how this battle comes to a head. The new Google music player was just updated in the market and is ready for download.

If they went worldwide with this, that'd be great. Too many US and US/UK only music services around as it is.
I totally like that they are entering the market, but I almost feel like it's too little too late… Maybe in a year or so I see this actually competing with iTunes and Amazon.. I think for now it's more of a notch on the Google belt for Android users to enjoy everything from one device.
