Print Friendly

Amazon has announced their Kindle Fire Tablet this morning at their event in New York City. This world has been waiting for this announcement for months. The Kindle Fire will be Amazon’s first Android powered tablet. Amazon has the potential to take the tablet game to the next level. One for the best part of this tablet is that it has a $199, which is an affordable price, compared to others.

When looking at this tablet you will notice that it’s revolved around Amazon and their services, which many will like but many others, will not. This tablet will have access to Amazon’s Prime account, which will allow users to stream TV series & Movies right to their devices. For music, of course you will use Amazon Music service for purchasing & playing music.

As far as application, concern users will be using Amazons App store (the true reason for this app store). Now those that have been taking advantage of Amazon’s Free Paid app a day will have a nice library of applications to go with their Kindle Fire.

I have to say that Amazon has the potential to make this Kindle Fire a hit since the major factors (apps, music, books, TV, movies) are included through their services on one tablet. We have seen powerhouse tablets fail but by Amazon, going “simple” and affordable was a great move in my opinion.

Specs:

  • 7″ Gorilla Glass
  • 8GB Storage
  • Processor is OMAP4430 same as the BB Playbook
  • November 15th Launcher date
  • Amazon Music
  • Amazon Prime (TV Series & Movie streaming)
  • Amazon App Store
  • Wi-Fi Only
  • Price $199

They also announced the new Kindle for $79 & the Kindle Touch for $99. This event reminded me a lot of Apple because Amazon announced their new tablet the Kindle Fire plus they “refreshed” their entire Kindle lineup. A strategy Apple is famous for. Time will tell if the Kindle Fire will be a hit and I feel it has the potential to do so.
